NEET PG Counselling — Frequently Asked Questions
Reviewed by the Envision Career Counselling Team · Updated 31 July 2026
Who conducts NEET PG counselling?
The MCC conducts the 50% All India Quota counselling for NEET PG, including deemed and central institutes, while each state conducts counselling for its 50% state-quota seats.
What is the AIQ vs state-quota split for NEET PG?
For NEET PG, seats are split 50% All India Quota (filled by MCC) and 50% state quota (filled by state authorities) — unlike NEET UG, where the All India Quota is 15%.
How many rounds are there in NEET PG counselling?
NEET PG counselling usually runs in multiple rounds — Round 1, Round 2, a Mop-Up round and a Stray Vacancy round — each with its own registration, choice filling, allotment and reporting.
What documents are required for NEET PG counselling?
You typically need your NEET PG scorecard, MBBS degree and marksheets, internship completion certificate, permanent or provisional NMC/state medical council registration, a valid ID proof and photographs.
When will NEET PG 2026 counselling start?
NEET PG counselling begins after the NEET PG result is declared. MCC and the states release their exact 2026 schedules through official notices — check them for confirmed dates.
Can I register for both AIQ and state NEET PG counselling?
Yes. Most candidates register for both MCC (50% All India Quota) and their state counselling (50% state quota) to widen their options and accept the better seat as rounds progress.
